The variety of incompatible digital video types online can be mind-numbing. Luckily, a host of applications have emerged to act as translators. This particular tool takes videos in Microsoft’s WMV format, and converts them into one of a number of other common formats, including AVI, DIVX, DVD, VCD and others. Although this task is performed smoothly, the software offers only a very limited set of options, such as type of television (NTSC or PAL) and output frame size. The trial version converts only ten seconds of each video file, which isn’t nearly enough for an adequate test. If users are looking for a no-frills way to convert WMV files to a different format, this program will do the trick, but anyone seeking more advanced features should look elsewhere.
