There’s a lot to like about Pop-Up No-No, but there are plenty of flaws, too. The installation is fast, but to launch the program you have to register at the developer’s site and get a free registration code through e-mail. Only after you type in the code does the program start working in your system tray. Pop-Up No-No can disable background sounds, GIF animations, and messenger service ads, and it can launch at start-up. The program claims to ban Flash ads, but that didn’t work in our testing. It works with Internet Explorer as well as Netscape, Mozilla, and Opera. However, it opens pop-up windows before closing them. You can only access the program’s features by right-clicking on the icon in the system tray, which makes you wonder why it creates a desktop icon. If you don’t mind having to register, Pop-Up No-No might satisfy home users, especially those who use the Netscape browser.
