This handy but unpolished application puts an encyclopedic list of PC information right at your fingertips, and also can help perform a few routine maintenance chores, such as cleaning up your Web-surfing tracks and tidying your desktop. After a lightning-fast launch, MvPCinfo begins gathering comprehensive data about your hardware and applications. Right away, it displays your computer name, model number, manufacturer, processor, motherboard, available memory, video card, ports, and OS. Using the pop-out menu bar on the right-hand side, you can select different categories of data, such as your Internet surfing history, installed programs, running processes, and network connections. Unfortunately, working with MvPCinfo is a less than pleasant experience. The application window flashes when you resize it, help is completely absent, and we encountered a nonreproducible “List out of bounds” error when using our mouse’s scrollwheel. In addition, the reporting tool only works in the registered version. We don’t know if average home users will greatly benefit from this program, but system administrators and other technically minded folks can, so long as they don’t mind the quirky interface and the occasional bug. Be sure to check out the competition before buying.
